Chop and drop

While rainfall exceeds evaporation, we can use a method of pruning and fertilizing known as chop and drop. This is where we remove a plant, or a part of a plant, then use that ?material as mulch for a different plant that may need more care, nutrition or is a plant we want to thrive or smother out. This is a very rough way to prune and dispose of pruning material.

We could send the larger branches and assorted plant material through a shredder to make it into fine chips. Or we can organize the materials to form a structure or support. This is all about creativity and learning.

Have fun, go enjoy the sunshine.
